Case Studies

Since 1994, Advanced Gas Technologies (AGT) has helped manufacturers replace costly, unreliable delivered industrial gas with engineered onsite nitrogen generation systems. From initial design through installation and long-term service, AGT delivers turnkey solutions that reduce operating costs, improve supply reliability, and provide complete control over industrial gas production.

Industrial Nitrogen Generator Case Studies

The case studies below demonstrate how manufacturers in different industries solved critical operational challenges. Across these projects, AGT systems have generated millions of dollars in documented savings, achieved payback periods as short as 18 months, and operated continuously for more than a decade.

Euclid

Compressed Air for Laser Cutting

Euclid Manufacturing, a Michigan-based automotive parts subsidiary of the L&W Group, needed a medium-pressure compressed air system to assist laser cutting equipment for components supplied to a major U.S. automaker. As a new facility without in-house compressed air expertise, Euclid had difficulty finding a supplier capable of designing a system to match its specific cutting requirements. AGT analyzed Euclid's current and projected compressed air demand and proposed a staged turnkey medium-pressure air compressor system with itemized energy and maintenance cost projections.

Mobile Nitrogen Generation for Automotive Parts Manufacturing

HELLA Group, a German automotive lighting and electronics manufacturer, needed a small-capacity, mobile membrane nitrogen generator to supply nitrogen to plastic component manufacturing equipment at one of its plants in Mexico. The project's modest scope made it difficult for HELLA to find a supplier willing to prioritize the work. AGT evaluated the requirement directly and delivered a cost-effective membrane nitrogen generating system sized to the plant's actual needs.

Johnvince Foods

Johnvince Foods (JVF), a North American bulk foods manufacturer and the Canadian packaging licensee for Planters Nuts, used nitrogen blankets in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) to preserve product freshness. Sourcing that nitrogen from bulk liquid suppliers left JVF exposed to recurring delivery costs and limited control over purity and supply. In 2006, JVF contracted AGT to design a turnkey onsite nitrogen generating system sized for both current output and anticipated growth, built around a feed air compressor and a PSA nitrogen generator capable of producing 8,000 standard cubic feet per hour at 99.5% purity.

Polaris Industries

High-Pressure Nitrogen for Gas-Assist Injection Molding

Polaris Industries, a manufacturer of recreational vehicles, uses gas-assist injection molding to produce complex plastic components at its northern Mexico facility, a process that depends on a continuous high-pressure nitrogen supply. AGT designed a turnkey system featuring a nitrogen generator with remote monitoring controls, two alternating 5,000 psig booster compressors for redundancy, and high-pressure nitrogen storage, commissioned in early 2013.

Worley Parsons

Nitrogen Generation for a Remote Sour Gas Compressor Station

Encana Corporation, a natural gas, oil, and natural gas liquids producer, engaged engineering firm WorleyParsons to build a gas compressor station in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. WorleyParsons selected onsite generation over truck-delivered nitrogen and brought in AGT to design a skid-mounted system. The solution used PSA technology with duplex feed air compressors and dryers, stainless-steel process components rated for sour gas exposure.
